Welcome to New Canaan Youth Lacrosse and the 2017 Season Registration. New Canaan has one of the oldest and most storied youth lacrosse programs in the State of Connecticut. We take pride in the sport, our family of athletes, our tradition of excellence and the legacy we have here.

- House league for grades K-4 will begin on Saturday, April 1st; if weather cooperates we will try to get field space earlier than April 1st.
- There will be no lacrosse on Good Friday, April 14th and Easter Sunday, April 16th. Games/practices will be scheduled for Saturday, April 15th
- There will be NO LACROSSE GAMES over the two weekends of New Canaan Public School Spring Break
- NCLA will once again offer Kindergarten clinics.

Kindergarten
Cost: $165
Boys play according to their enrolled grade

Focus will be on learning to love the game of lacrosse, basic skills and understanding positions. Catching, throwing, scooping, shooting. Fun contests and small field games will evolve in the season.
Saturday mornings only from 11:30 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Saxe Middle School. As weather warms up, we may add an optional Sunday upon coaches’ discretion.
1st Grade
Cost for Full Spring Season: $165

2nd Grade

Focus will be on developing and improving stick skills – catching, throwing, scooping, shooting. Players will also grasp the concepts of positions and placement on the field. In addition, there will be a focus on one-on-one play, dodging, defending and moving the ball in transition.
Saturday mornings only 8:30-10:00 A.M at Saxe Middle School. As weather warms up, we may add an optional Sunday upon coaches’ discretion.
3rd Grade
Cost: $290
Boys play according to their enrolled grade

In addition, there will be a focus on one-on-one play, dodging, defending and moving the ball in transition. Small field 7v7 games may evolve.
Saturdays (10:00-11:30 A.M.) and Sundays (11:30 A.M.) and one mid-week practice (Thursdays 6:00 pm) as an entire grade at Saxe Middle School.
House League Games at Saxe on Saturdays and Sundays (mixed 3rd & 4th graders vs mixed 3rd & 4th graders)
Ad hoc, select games vs. other towns – at discretion of the coaches – perhaps 8 games. All players will be invited to play in games vs. other towns (there is no formal CONNY league play in this grade).
4th Grade
Cost: $310

House League Games at Saxe on Saturdays and Sundays (mixed 3rd & 4th graders vs mixed 3rd & 4th graders)

5th Grade

Boys play according to the following birthdates: September 1, 2005 – August 31, 2006
If you are too old, you must register in 6th grade, or you petition the CONNY Board to stay in 5th grade.

Staff per team will be two paid coaches and a dad assistant.
Focus will be on three practices a week. One of those practices will be a dedicated “Skills Night” where players will gather as one grade to focus on improving their stick skills – catching both hands, throwing both hands, proper shooting, ground ball work (scooping); We will have dedicated sessions for faceoff players and goalies, as well; the other two nights will be practices by assigned travel team – focusing on set plays, offensive alignment, defensive alignment, clearing, riding and transition.
Participate in a formal CONNY League – with travel games vs. local towns, plus two 4-game jamborees vs. New Jersey and Massachusetts teams.
UPDATE: NCLA is unable to offer a house league schedule for 5th grade this year.
- Three practices during the week (one is a skills night): Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (all 6:00-7:30 P.M.) at Saxe Middle School and two games per weekend.
6th Grade

Boys play according to the following birth dates: September 1, 2004 – August 31, 2005.
If you are too old, you must register in 7th grade, or you petition the CONNY Board to stay in 6th grade.

- ALL 7th graders will have skills night practice on Fridays from 7:30-9 P.M. at Water Tower Turf.
- Teams 7 A&B will practice at Dunning at 6:00 P.M. on Mondays and at 7:30 P.M. on Wednesdays at Dunning.
- Team 7/8C will practice at Saxe on Tuesdays at 6:00 P.M. and Thursdays at 6:00pm.
8th Grade
Cost: $525
Boys play according to the following birth dates: March 1, 2002 – August 31, 2003
If you are too old, you must petition the CONNY Board to stay in 8th grade.

One of those practices will be a dedicated “Skills Night” where players will gather as one grade to focus on improving their stick skills – catching both hands, throwing both hands, proper shooting, ground ball work (scooping); We will have dedicated sessions for faceoff players and goalies, as well; the other two nights will be practices by assigned travel team – focusing on set plays, offensive alignment, defensive alignment, clearing, riding and transition.
