New Canaan Lacrosse Association’s primary purpose is to teach and promote the game of lacrosse in a fun, safe and sportsmanlike environment. As a youth league, NCLA is dedicated to the skill development of lacrosse players of all abilities by teaching the game through individual fundamentals, speed, position, and finesse - all progressing toward a high level of team play. Along with teaching lacrosse, NCLA strives to instill the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play and a love of the sport of lacrosse, along with respect for teammates, coaches, officials and opponents; in essence we "Honor the Game."
NCLA believes that sportsmanship is a way of life and will conduct all activities in a manner that will set an example of good sportsmanship and friendly competition for our young players and community. New Canaan Lacrosse Association is an active member of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a nationwide organization dedicated to promoting a positive culture in youth sports so that every young athlete can have a positive, character-building experience.
NCLA is committed to maintaining the highest coaching qualifications and training standards. NCLA is committed to being a leader nationally with regards to equality of resources for both the Boys' and Girls' program with regards to coaches' training, player to coach ratio, practice hours, field resources, game play, equipment and merchandise.
